Soup meow! with lentils and leeks

Ingredients

For 4 people
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1.5 carrots
  • 1 leek
  • 300 g lentils
  • 1 zucchini
  • salt
  • For garnishing: 1 slice of rye bread, black olives, spaghetti, half a carrot

Preparation

  • 01

Bring a generous amount of water to a boil. Slice the onion, garlic, zucchini, leek and one and a half of a carrot. Keep a half of a carrot to decorate the dish.

  • 02

Put all chopped ingredients together with the lentils and cook until they are soft. Add some salt according to taste. It is important that the water covers all the vegetables. If necessary you can add more water during the cooking process. Cooking the vegetables takes about 30 minutes, when they are soft they are ready.

  • 03

Once everything is cooked, turn off the heat and wait about 10 minutes before blending everything with a hand blender.

  • 04

Serve a few spoons of soup in a deep plate. Toast the rye bread to a kind of crouton. Cut the bread with a knife or cut it with kitchen scissors into two identical triangles and a circle.

  • 05

Cut the remaining half carrot into two smaller triangles to fit inside the triangles of the rye bread. Also cut out a half circle that will serve as the tongue for the cat.

  • 06

Now decorate your soup as a kitty before you can eat! Place the triangles on the plate where the ears are going to be. In the center, place the olives that will be the eyes and nose and the circle and half circle that will form the cat’s snout and tongue. To make the whiskers, you can add some spaghetti strings.
